Well - I guess I am in the minority here. But - we have a two story house (stairs) with pets (hair) and carpet and hardwood. While I do not deny the suction ability - it is the most awkward when trying to use the hand tools or suction hose by itself. Forget about trying to manipulate it on the stairs, too. Found myself using our wet dry vac for hard to reach areas rather than wrestle with the cumbersome vaccum cleaner. Save yourself a lot of $$$ and buy a regular old canister vac.
